2019.08.16 – A quick trip to Catania

Catania is a distance from where I’m living; about a 3-hour train ride each way, so it was a bit of a stretch for a day trip. But it’s a pretty easy journey, and I’ve heard plenty of good things about it, so I went anyway.

Getting there just before 1 pm was problem number one I guess you could say, it didn’t let me get a true sense of the city. There are beautiful buildings, piazzas, markets, restaurants, etc., it was just that some other parts I went through were pretty much empty. Even the famous street market was wrapping up. Of course, I’d like to see the city in its full bustling glory, but with the train ride being long it also meant the last one leaves pretty early and I couldn’t stay to see it resurge in the late afternoon. I have a lot of places still to see here, but it intrigued me enough that I will try and make it back to stay a few days. After all, I barely scratched the surface in this quick buzz through.
