Ok, so I’m clearly getting older, the time that it’s taking me to adjust is proof. It’s also been quite hot, so that could be a factor. Overall though I’d say things are going well.
I’m in a smaller village East of Palermo and though it has a good selection of restaurants, cafes, markets, and a small electronics store. I do need to go to one of the larger towns for some household items I’d like for the new place. They’re only a 20 or so minute train ride away so it’s not a big deal.
The most difficult part by far has been the heat. I knew it would take some getting used to for me, but I just happened to arrive during a heatwave. Last night it was in the low 90’s through the night… did I mention I don’t have a/c? Luckily one of the first things I did was get a couple of fans. I can’t say they made last night great, but they definitely helped me through it.
Some of you may have seen pictures of just a few of the many great little beaches nearby. I plan to travel around the island in the coming months and practice my photography, so keep an eye on my Instagram and Facebook pages if you’re interested.
