2021 New Year in Palermo Italy (Sicily)

Palermo’s a great city and beautiful… but being here for this time wasn’t planned, and it’s been a pretty frustrating time. So to avoid going into a rant. I’m just going to include the basic expenses for now and might add a little more from the experience later…

Well, one thing I do want to share is this excellent Airbnb (link). I found the location incredible for exploring the center of Palermo, it’s very comfortable, the rooftop view is beautiful, and the host Alberto is great! The cover photo here is from the rooftop patio.

If by chance you don’t already have an Airbnb account here’s a referral link that will give you a discount on your fist stay and me a credit for a future stay, a win-win (link)

To follow the journey be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. All the links are in the top right of the page. The links on this site also provide me with referral compensation if you want to support me in this venture. Thanks, and take care out there!

Costs for this stop…

This was a 14-night stay…

  • Accommodation –  $744.28*
  • Getting around locally – $0.00
  • Living expenses; pretty much just groceries and eating out on this stay – $237.49
  • Mobile phones  – $20.71
  • SafetyWing Insurance – $32.25

  • Total $1,034.73 / 14 nights = $73.91 per

Transportation can be a big expense and I feel that would vary too much, so I’ve left it out along with any incidental/one-time personal costs.

  • I convert local currency to USD after the trip so there will be a slight variation from the real-time conversion. For this stop, it was converted at USD 1.22 = 1 Euro

*I do ‘t know how this rate compares to non-covid times, but it did have a discount for being a somewhat long stay. The discount for 4 weeks or more would’ve been great, but the last week was taken. Some places do these nice discounts for stays of 4 weeks or more, which is really great. Four weeks is a bit of a long stay, but the discounts can be very big; 35% or more in some cases.

Please let me know what you think. Your feedback means a lot, I want to make this as useful as possible for the most people possible. I appreciate your support!
